Lenox Galleries
It’s no secret that the Berkshires region is a world-class cultural hub, with countless attractions revolving around art, history, music, and more! Lenox is no exception to this, and you’ll find an abundance of such attractions right at your doorstep, with numerous art galleries scattered in and around the downtown area.
One of them is Sohn Fine Art on Church Street, a renowned gallery dedicated to contemporary photography. Founded by photographer Cassandra Sohn in 2011, the gallery is “dedicated to the development, promotion and exhibition of innovative contemporary artworks by international and local artists.” In line with that mission, Sohn Fine Art also hosts educational programs featuring established photographers, allowing aspiring artists and photographers to learn from and work with some of the best in the field!
The gallery is also unique in the sense that they provide various fine art printing and framing services. Through exquisite attention to detail and nothing but top-quality techniques and materials, Cassandra is able to produce some incredible works of art for her clients. May we suggest bringing her some of your favorite photographs from your time in the Berkshires and have her work her magic on them? A beautiful, custom-made print of the rolling hills of the Berkshires would look great in any living room!
Also in town you’ll find the WIT Gallery (short for Wonders in Time), one of the leading venues in the Berkshires for contemporary art. For over 20 years, the gallery has been curating exhibitions and pieces from a wide range of artists, both up and coming and established, across all types of media. Sculptures, photography, glasswork, paintings, you name it, the WIT gallery has displayed anything and everything. What’s more, the knowledgeable and passionate staff create a wonderful experience for all visitors, making it among the highest-rated galleries in the entire region.
One of the newest galleries in town, His Daughter Paloma (HDP) has already been getting a lot of buzz. According to their website, the mission of HDP is to “facilitate cultural distribution for emerging and mid-career contemporary artists”, and since opening their doors in May 2021, that’s exactly what they have been doing. The gallery features a resident artist, currently the sculptor Marion Attal, and a periodically rotating exhibition, so be sure to check it out whenever you’re in town to see what’s being shown!
Whether you’re a seasoned art collector or just a casual browser, the galleries of Lenox are not to be missed. And thanks to the frequently rotating exhibitions, they will likely always have something new to see every time you visit the Berkshires, making them one of the most exciting attractions that the town has to offer!
